Welcome to read.

...we're an actual real-life bookstore in the Blackhawk community of Danville, California and you've discovered our website. You'll find most of our inventory here but, if you don't locate what you want, please give us a call, and, if at all possible, we'll order what you'd like and send it on to you but, what we secretly hope is that this virtual connection will entice you to come for a visit. It will be worth the trip.

man behind the curtain

Our website is about a week old...no cake with candles yet, but it is getting better and better. We still have much to add for content. The "man behind the curtain" is working constantly to improve the listings of our goods, as well as the look, feel, and ease of using the site. It should be improving every day. Thank you for your interest.

Our good friend and fellow booklover, Anthony J. Smith, died, unexpectedly on July 5, of heart disease. He was a great champion of reading, and if you had the opportunity to meet him, probably were on the winning end of a book recommendation of one of his favorites. Anthony's life experiences were vast and varied as he traveled widely and met fascinating people who provided him and us with really entertaining stories. He held a strong belief in the value of helping those in need and worked through/with many organizations to accomplish that goal. To say that Anthony was quirky and, truly, one-of-a-kind is an understatement of enormous size. Personally, I don't encounter many people with his wide knowledge of literature and already miss our book conversations. We are bereft.
